FINISHING

THE LAST STEP IN THE PRINTING PROCESS

Our finishing department is capable of a range of functions to turn the printed sheets into the finished product. Utilizing a wide variety of equipment such as cutters, folders, stitchers, and hand labor we constantly satisfy our customers’ finishing needs with the quality they deserve.

In addition to machine processes, our hand labor capabilities include: laminating, shrink-wrapping, banding, pocket folder gluing, hand collating, and padding to name a few. We can fold your special brochure anyway you want, or number any job. We also make sure every job is carefully and properly packaged before we deliver it to you.

STITCHING
Saddle Stitching: Securing pages by wire staples through the center fold; the printed sections are inserted one inside the other.
Side Stitching: Securing sections of a book by inserting stitches through the first sheet to the last.

BINDING
Perfect Binding: An adhesive-binding method. Signatures are collated, the spine of the book block is trimmed off to create loose-leaf pages and roughened before adhesive is applied and the cover is drawn on.
Comb/Plastic Binding: A curved or rake shaped plastic strip inserted through slots punched along the binding edge.
Spiral Binding: Book bound with wires in spiral form inserted through holes punched along the binding edge.
Loose-Leaf Binding: Process in which individual sheets can be inserted and removed at will from a section of a larger document often held in a three-ring binder.
